Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my XL2 to something HD. Since XL-H1 is to pricey for me I think I'll go with XH-A1... And now I have a question: will my petroff sunshade:

fit XH-A1??? I know that diameter is the same (72mm) but maybe you'll know if canon's mic won't be blocking the sunshade.

Thanks in advance,

Maciek

Wouldn't that shade be designed for a 4:3 camera and your new A1 is a 16:9 format?

I thought, since xl2 has native 16x9 chips it wouldn't matter... Is there some difference?

The main difference would be that the XH A1 lens is wider, but my guess is it still might work. The sunshade that comes on the lens is a pretty good one if it doesn't. All you'd miss is the French flag.

Thanks! That's good to know. One more question: I'm also going to buy brevis35 and I'll need some step down rings (52mm & 58mm mainly...). Are there any you'd recommend?

Stepdown rings are pretty much all the same, in my experience. You should be able to get them from Brevis or order from B&H, Tiffen, etc.
