I read they only activated 130,000 of them so far... ;)

Sounds like more than half of those people are buying them strictly to sell for profits on ebay... kinda sad...

Report last nite on how Apple was dissapointed in the sales. Fast burst, but no follow up was their take on it. I think their 'plan' with ATT was too restrictive for most people.

I hear people did something to where they got their money back on day one, some sort of loop hole, with AT&T. Then turned them into handheld wifi devices.

Que? My wife is dying for an iPhone and I ended up with a Nikon D40x, so I think I have to get her an iPhone first, lol.

Report last nite on how Apple was dissapointed in the sales.

There's always some "report" about how poorly Apple is doing. But this doesn't sound too shabby to me:

http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/jul2007/tc20070725_687892.htm?campaign_id=yhoo

In all of its 2002 fiscal year, Apple sold 372,000 iPods. I'm guessing Apple sold more iPhones than that in a matter of days. Moreover, Apple is predicting that it will break the 10 million-unit mark by the end of fiscal 2008, which is 14 months away. And you can bet new iterations of the iPhone are on the way. It took three fiscal years for the iPod to reach that level.

If you had bought Apple stock on Tuesday after the dip caused by the initial ATT iPhone report you would now have 10% gain...

Two times I should've bought Apple stock:

1. 1998 (when the iMac first came out--my best friend and I commented on that, but we were too broke).

2. 2001 (after the tech crash, but again, too broke).

I did, however, buy Marvel Comics stock at $1.90 a share, just a few, and before the 3-2 split, it was at over $30 a share.

I didn't say it was a report on how poorly Apple was doing, just a report on how poorly the initial sales of the IPhone was... all in all Apple is in great shape. This 'poor' statement was from an Apple spokesman, saying it did not meet their expectations after the initial rush.

Don't own apple stock. My money is in medtech.

Doing great right now.

They probably should have checked with Steve first ;-)

“iPhone is off to a great start—we hope to sell our one-millionth iPhone by the end of its first full quarter of sales.”

I got an iPhone. I gotta say, this thing ROCKS. The internet browser is the best there is on any phone I have seen. It works seamlesly with Yahoo Mail, Gmail and others. Google Maps, texting and opens .pdf files along with other stuff I don't understand.

thank you for the segway to allow me to also praise the Iphones ability to surf the interweb and all its glory which includes this here site while I write very thread response while taking a break.

Now if only someone made a Bluetooth universal remote and a iPhone app to go with it.... It could run my home theater with appletv, receivers, projector and all.

I'd also like a set of sound canceling headphones for mowing the back forty.

Well I just read through that quickly, but "Dave" sounds clueless. He signs up for a plan where you pay by the KB and everything is clearly stated at the time. So he thinks

I now pay $40 per month for unlimited data usage on the iPhone, so really -- how much could it be? $100 at the most, right?

He's a "web developer" and

I couldn't even tell you how many KB the average web page is, no less a text message to my son, an e-mail with a photo to my mother, or a quick check of Google Maps.

Caveat Emptor. I think AT&T was really generous to waive the charges; he should have known better IMO...
