I just have to share this with someone!!!!

(Sitting in my home/office too long by myself!)

I have just upgraded my DVD player to a Samsung Blu-Ray BD-P1000 while I'm waiting for my Blu-Ray burner to arrive, and am playing my latest wedding footage from a standard DVD from it to a Sony Bravia 20".

Let me tell you...it blows me away!!

It looks almost as good as taking a HDMI feed direct from the FX 7 as I capture into the computer!

I was letting the camera downconvert it, as it was only a basic package, so I edited as SD.

Way to go if you show people sample dvd's in your studio.

I'll have to put a disclaimer on my DVD's now ...My player is better than your player (LOL)

i did not know blue ray would play standard dvd,s very interesting.i wonder if we will ever get [blue ray] [hdv] recorders like we have dvd recorders that will record from camcorders as well as tv.chris

You can easily edit and burn HD to red-laser discs that play on HD DVD players and PS3. You can use data rates from 25Mbps to 29Mbps. At 25Mbps you can almost 45M on a DVD-R DL disc.

I just compliled a series of tests of the new JVC GZ-HD7 to disc -- complete with menus.

No need to buy a new burner until they get down to $250 or so.

PMFJI... I have a Sony S300 Blu-ray player hooked to a HD LCD TV with HDMI and I too was pleasantly surprised to find it not only plays standard DVDs but it also plays all my home made DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RW discs that were created with Adobe Encore. I've even gone back to projects I created two years ago and it plays them all great. What a bonus. :-)
