Hi Mat!

Good luck in this challenge! Just wanted to let you know that so far consistently when I download my film it loads to near the end and then stops downloading. It seems to hang in the same spot. Any ideas?

Cat - All I can say is theres loads of bandwidth being used as everyones DL'ing at the moment. If its linking it should work fine.

Thanks for looking into this. Okay, I tried it again and this time it indicated that it was a full download, but even still it hangs in the same spot and doesn't finish.

Do I have the option to upload to the server again? I think something more than heavy use is going on here. I'm able to download other films to the end...?

Let me know what is best for me to do to help out in this!

Where can the UC4 films be accessed. The Current Submissions on the UWOL Challenge site only show UC1 thru UC3 for me. If I try to go to www.uwolchallenge.com/challenge4 where it seems the others are finding links to UC4 films I get this:

You don't have permission to access /challenge4/ on this server

The small window with the link to UC4 submissions takes me to the same list with the most recent submissions being UC3.

We revised these for this challenge, so even if you're familiar with them, please take another look.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please adhere strictly to #7 Naming Convention:

YOURINTIALS_UCX_yourfilmname.(fileextension)
examples as follows:

MCE_UC4_Water.mov

RE_UC4_thewildwithin.mov

with so many entries, your conforming to our naming convention will save our web guru from big headaches.

Other bits:
Your file should not exceed 60MB and should be compressed to Sorenson 3, MPEG1, or MPEG4 -- these are all cross-platform file formats which will play on either a mac or PC. No .wmv files or H.264 files, please!

The capital in "Water" threw me off.

No probs, there were many with case issues, it just makes it easy to miss the odd one.

so...
UPPERCASE_UPPERCASE_lowercase.fileextension (No spaces, no underscores in film name)

Ok I downloaded your film and it does seem to go bandy after 1min 40...SO, can you email Kevin Railsback and arrange to re-upload your film. I have a feeling it may have corrupted at some point in your uploading process.

Hi Mat:

I think I see what's going on here, but I'm not certain. I emailed Kevin and he immediately responded with the go ahead to upload again. I did and it completed successfully. However, on my mac the size is 59.9 MB which I of course was trying to maximize the size and still meet the challenge requirements. When the uploading completed it said it successfully uploaded 61 MB. Does the server cut off at 60 MB, the max limit? I'm oversize here I'm guessing.

I'm really slow out of the gate here, funny I got my movie in over a week ahead of schedule! Unless you don't think that's it, I will re-squeeze my movie and upload again and make certain that it uploads under 60 MB. Hopefully that will do the trick?

I don't know if this is appropriate, as the deadline has passed, but I uploaded a new rendering of my “Water Falls” (VTW_UC4_Water_Falls.mov) video as an MOV. I finally figured out Sorenson compression. If not, I’ll just post my own link.

Hope I'm not causing trouble. My feelings will not be hurt if you say no.

Just for grins I've re-squeezed my movie and it is now ~ 55 mb and has been uploaded to the uwol challenge site. Kevin will be back in the office later today and will deal with it then. Hope this helps. Let me know when it's up and running so I can do a final check.

Just thought I would let you know! As I was going to down the list downloading, I ended up downloading his twice my accident due to that.. lol... Sorry for taking extra bandwidth!
