Cheers Mat Catherine Russell July 24th, 2007, 08:51 AM Hi Mat! Good luck in this challenge! Just wanted to let you know that so far consistently when I download my film it loads to near the end and then stops downloading. It seems to hang in the same spot. Any ideas? Thanks for checking for me, Cat P.S. The film having trouble is: CR_UC4_waterislife.mov i.e. Water Is Life by Catherine Russell Thanks Mat Jeff Hendricks July 24th, 2007, 09:01 AM Hi Matt, Touching Generations is by Jeff Hendricks not Joseph Hecks... JH=Jeff Hendricks... Thanks Jeff Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 09:18 AM Sorry about that Jeff.....should be sorted now. Cat - All I can say is theres loads of bandwidth being used as everyones DL'ing at the moment. If its linking it should work fine. Right click and save to your comp to play :-) Cheers Mat Catherine Russell July 24th, 2007, 09:30 AM Hi Mat: Thanks for looking into this. Okay, I tried it again and this time it indicated that it was a full download, but even still it hangs in the same spot and doesn't finish. Do I have the option to upload to the server again? I think something more than heavy use is going on here. I'm able to download other films to the end...? Let me know what is best for me to do to help out in this! Thanks Mat, I sincerely appreciate the hard work you are doing here! Cheers, Cat Bruce Foreman July 24th, 2007, 09:35 AM Mat: Where can the UC4 films be accessed. The Current Submissions on the UWOL Challenge site only show UC1 thru UC3 for me. If I try to go to www.uwolchallenge.com/challenge4 where it seems the others are finding links to UC4 films I get this: You don't have permission to access /challenge4/ on this server The small window with the link to UC4 submissions takes me to the same list with the most recent submissions being UC3. Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 09:38 AM Cat- I'm downloading your's now. I'll let you know if I have any problems. Bruce - Clear your cache, the page is there fella . http://www.uwolchallenge.com/currentsubmisions.htm Marco Wagner July 24th, 2007, 09:39 AM I cannot download mine either; The webpage cannot be found HTTP 404 Most likely causes: There might be a typing error in the address. Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 09:53 AM Marco - Yours was a case problem, its now resolved :) Everyone can help me by sticking to the naming conventions laid down on the site, including case sensitivity ! Bruce Foreman July 24th, 2007, 09:57 AM Bruce - Clear your cache, the page is there fella . http://www.uwolchallenge.com/currentsubmisions.htm Yeah...I just did that. Boy, do I feel smart. So easy a caveman could do it... Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 10:05 AM :-) Good stuff Bruce ! Marco Wagner July 24th, 2007, 10:08 AM Cat- I'm downloading your's now. I'll let you know if I have any problems. Bruce - Clear your cache, the page is there fella . http://www.uwolchallenge.com/currentsubmisions.htm My sincerest apologies I was following the rules from this email: ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Mon 7/9/2007 2:26 PM We revised these for this challenge, so even if you're familiar with them, please take another look. VERY IMPORTANT: Please adhere strictly to #7 Naming Convention: YOURINTIALS_UCX_yourfilmname.(fileextension) examples as follows: MCE_UC4_Water.mov RE_UC4_thewildwithin.mov with so many entries, your conforming to our naming convention will save our web guru from big headaches. Other bits: Your file should not exceed 60MB and should be compressed to Sorenson 3, MPEG1, or MPEG4 -- these are all cross-platform file formats which will play on either a mac or PC. No .wmv files or H.264 files, please! Meryem ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; The capital in "Water" threw me off. Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 10:15 AM No probs, there were many with case issues, it just makes it easy to miss the odd one. For future reference.... Correct sample RE_UC4_thewildwithin.mov so... UPPERCASE_UPPERCASE_lowercase.fileextension (No spaces, no underscores in film name) Hope this helps Meryem Ersoz July 24th, 2007, 11:09 AM whoops, sorry my bad. i didn't realize there was a case sensitivity issue. and if i'm not gettin' it, then the players are going to have a tough time. sorry about that mat.... on the other hand.... a RECORD 30 ENTRIES!! whoa..... Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 12:03 PM Cat Ok I downloaded your film and it does seem to go bandy after 1min 40...SO, can you email Kevin Railsback and arrange to re-upload your film. I have a feeling it may have corrupted at some point in your uploading process. Steven Gotz July 24th, 2007, 12:07 PM Meryem, I think it is 29. Trond's got listed twice? Catherine Russell July 24th, 2007, 12:17 PM Thanks Mat: Good as done. I've emailed Kevin and will wait for his response. In the meantime I will double check things on my end to make certain the problem isn't in my movie somehow. Thanks for your help, Cat Catherine Russell July 24th, 2007, 01:36 PM Hi Mat: I think I see what's going on here, but I'm not certain. I emailed Kevin and he immediately responded with the go ahead to upload again. I did and it completed successfully. However, on my mac the size is 59.9 MB which I of course was trying to maximize the size and still meet the challenge requirements. When the uploading completed it said it successfully uploaded 61 MB. Does the server cut off at 60 MB, the max limit? I'm oversize here I'm guessing. I'm really slow out of the gate here, funny I got my movie in over a week ahead of schedule! Unless you don't think that's it, I will re-squeeze my movie and upload again and make certain that it uploads under 60 MB. Hopefully that will do the trick? Let me know what you think.... Thanks, Cat Dale Guthormsen July 24th, 2007, 02:03 PM Mat, Just incase the email doesn't get to you, I can download everything but my own, the source. Hhum??? Mat Thompson July 24th, 2007, 02:06 PM Should be sorted now Dale Victor Wilcox July 24th, 2007, 02:30 PM Mat, I don't know if this is appropriate, as the deadline has passed, but I uploaded a new rendering of my “Water Falls” (VTW_UC4_Water_Falls.mov) video as an MOV. I finally figured out Sorenson compression. If not, I’ll just post my own link. Hope I'm not causing trouble. My feelings will not be hurt if you say no. Catherine Russell July 24th, 2007, 02:31 PM Hi Mat: Just for grins I've re-squeezed my movie and it is now ~ 55 mb and has been uploaded to the uwol challenge site. Kevin will be back in the office later today and will deal with it then. Hope this helps. Let me know when it's up and running so I can do a final check. Thanks for everything, Cat Kevin Railsback July 24th, 2007, 03:07 PM Cat's film has been moved to the proper directory. Until Mat can link it, the URL is http://www.uwolchallenge.com/challenge4/CR_UC4_WaterIsLife.mov Catherine Russell July 24th, 2007, 04:39 PM Hi Kevin: Phew! I checked out the movie and it played to the end. Thanks for everything. I'll copy and paste this link in my thread with the info that it is temporary until Mat links it somewhere else (?). It can't read the full URL but it looks like the original URL we are supposed to have anyway. Cat Kevin Railsback July 24th, 2007, 04:40 PM Cool beans Cat! I'd get in there and link it for you but I don't want to screw up anything Mat's done Gabriel Yeager July 25th, 2007, 03:41 PM Hey guys! I just found out that Trond Saetre's video - Transformation - was posted twice on the "current submissions" page... Just thought I would let you know! As I was going to down the list downloading, I ended up downloading his twice my accident due to that.. lol... Sorry for taking extra bandwidth! I don't want to be a pest or anything, I just thought you said you would like to be informed on stuff like that... ~Gabriel Meryem Ersoz July 25th, 2007, 03:50 PM Meryem, I think it is 29. Trond's got listed twice? true. but my own 50-second wonder is not posted yet, so we're still hanging in at 30. i hate being left out.... Brian McKay July 25th, 2007, 05:38 PM four challenges and over 100 entries....bloody awesome brian |
