This is my first year filming weddings. Tomorrow I have a wedding outside. The problem i'm having is that I can't put the hood on the camera with a filter at the same time. Do I even need to have a good if I have a filter attached? I use a sony vx2100 and the set of 2 filters are made by sony. Can anyone help me? I know its short notice but I have't had to use the filters yet and just tried them today.

have u made sure the filters are double thread? if they are then you should be able to attach the hood too.

You don't need to use the hood for the VX. I've used mine with a WA lens a lot and the hood needs to come off for this. Just watch for lens flares... make sure the glass is really clean.

thanks for the help guys! i try to make sure the lense is clean every time film. i've gotten those disgusting specs on the camera when shooting around the sun. they aren't very flattering.

Sean - don't use a filter unless you feel that it's *absolutely* necessary. On the other hand, a lens hood is always an absolute necessity in my view, and is the cheapest, lightest accessory you can use which brings a disproportionally greater good effect to your footage.

You see those 'disgusting specks'? They're caused by the fact that sunlight is striking your front element and the fact that you're shooting at very short focal lengths indeed. If you add a filter you're adding two more glass surfaces into the mix.
