View Full Version : Rotary Control Window Problem

Ouch! Just came back from a shoot and while offloading some fresh HD I discovered that the rotary control knob window wasn't displaying correctly.

You can see what I'm talking about in the attached video file.

I've never noticed this before and am fairly sure I would have. In the attached video the TC should be reading 00:05:37:29. So it looks as though just the first four characters are defunct. Everything else seems to be working just fine (and "no" I didn't drop the camera or get it wet.)

Has anyone seen this before? Would a full reset of the camera fix 'er up? (Don't really want to do that!)
Is it time to contact Canon?
Oh, I certainly hope not! Aargh!

Thanks for any help and/or input.

ah that sucks, looks very much like a screen failure, doubt anything would fix it other than replacing the lcd itself

Apparently Canon agrees with you. I contacted their Tech guys (BTW Canon's customer service is phenomenal!) and they are sending me a cushioned box to send the camera in for repair. Since I joined the XL club way back when, the repair should take less than five days and if not... they'll send me a loaner. (Which is great since I'm just about to embark on a fairly large production!).

I can't say enough good things about those guys. I just wish the warranty was longer than one year! :-)
