Is the 24p mode the only way to get progressive video out of my HV20? If I am capturing memories for the future, should I be shooting only in 24p mode?
I am operating on the assumption:
Interlaced = old and bad
Progressive = new and good
Thanks for the help! I want to make sure I am capturing my daughters in the best way possible.

Chris - those aren't accurate assumptions. Think of the whole 24p thing as purely asthetic: do you like the look. There may be some slight advantages to using 60i if you want to do slo motion later and some slight advantages for low light shooting in 24p mode (though I haven't noticed them myself), but either way, whatever you shoot will be fine for capturing your daughters' moments.

Peter:
Thank you so much for your reply! I checked out your YouTube sometime last week. Keep up the good work!
I see what you mean about progressive vs. interlaced. I was just concerned that maybe one or the other would be going out of fashion eventually. And if that is the case then I may as well shoot video in the other.
