This is something I have wondered for a long time. If I store a tape close to a camera battery, for example in a small bag during a film job, or whatever, for long-term storage, can the tape be effected by the battery through magnetism?
I am kind of a control freak, but I just wonder. I know electricity in general easily produces magnetism.

Don't worry, it's a simple answer. No. Even highly-magnetized degaussers used to erase old VHS tapes can't erase MiniDV tapes. And no, batteries don't put out magnetic fields.

Ok, thanks, I trust you, guess I only keep them away from loudspeakers.
