View Full Version : Wher can I buy dimmable CFLs? Paul Cascio July 6th, 2007, 09:30 AM Daylight 5600K or close if possible. Thanks Daniel Epstein July 6th, 2007, 10:09 AM A Google Search turned up this bulb Color Temperature unknown. http://www.buylightfixtures.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=145 What you are looking for would be very useful. Richard Andrewski July 7th, 2007, 08:25 AM Hi Paul, For some reason, I only see these in 2700K. I bought some in 2005 and was not pleased with their color rendering capabilities so I gave up on them. No one seems to make a dimmable, higher quality daylight version for some reason. I guess dimmable CFL is just not that popular yet as the ballast is so much more complicated and expensive. http://cgi.ebay.com/4-DIMMABLE-COMPACT-FLUORESCENT-LIGHT-BULBS-23W-100W_W0QQitemZ230149337827QQihZ013QQcategoryZ20706QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It's one reason why I haven't offered a self-ballasted, multi socket CFL fixture yet. At least with the separate ballast units, you can change the ballasts out and make a dimmable version as the 55w tubes like Cool Lights and others use are all inherently dimmable. When we offer a dimmable fixture, in the near future, it will be more expensive than our current models but not as expensive as many of the other solutions out there now. Once again, we'll be setting a new price benchmark, but this time for dimming fixtures. |
