Can you stack the 2x adapter?

Thanks,
Bill

What 2x adapter? Are you referring to the 35mm EOS 2x extender?

Chris,

No, I,m sorry what I meant to ask about was the 1.6x Extender.

Stacking a pair of 1.6x extenders... hmm... never tried it, but I doubt it would work.

Tell you what I have done though... I've used the 1.6x extender with the stock 20x lens plus a 1.6x teleconverter (in other words, attachments on both ends of the lens). This was on an XL H1, but can also apply to an XL2. Stand by while I dig up the link... I used this combo for some astrophotography. It's basically the stock lens magnified 2.2 times.

Okay, here's some of the work I did with that set-up (1.6x + 20x + 1.6x):

This was with the 1.6x extender only:

Believe it or not, you can stack the 1.6x extender plus the EF adapter:

Results were a little soft though, due to that low-grade Sigma lens.

Beautiful images. Amazing how much detail the XL-H1 pulled at that distance.

Chris,

Thank you for the research good info.
How did you attach the teleconverter to the front of the 20x?

It's a bayonet mount. More info about it on the Schneider / Century site at http://www.schneideroptics.com/ecommerce/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?CID=1385&IID=6223
