View Full Version : Canons 2X Adapter ? Bill Hamell July 5th, 2007, 12:49 PM Can you stack the 2x adapter? Thanks, Bill Chris Hurd July 5th, 2007, 01:06 PM What 2x adapter? Are you referring to the 35mm EOS 2x extender? Bill Hamell July 5th, 2007, 05:16 PM Chris, No, I,m sorry what I meant to ask about was the 1.6x Extender. Bill Chris Hurd July 5th, 2007, 08:56 PM Stacking a pair of 1.6x extenders... hmm... never tried it, but I doubt it would work. Tell you what I have done though... I've used the 1.6x extender with the stock 20x lens plus a 1.6x teleconverter (in other words, attachments on both ends of the lens). This was on an XL H1, but can also apply to an XL2. Stand by while I dig up the link... I used this combo for some astrophotography. It's basically the stock lens magnified 2.2 times. Chris Hurd July 5th, 2007, 09:07 PM Okay, here's some of the work I did with that set-up (1.6x + 20x + 1.6x): http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=72218 This was with the 1.6x extender only: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=67201 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=68770 http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=68198 Believe it or not, you can stack the 1.6x extender plus the EF adapter: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=68960 Results were a little soft though, due to that low-grade Sigma lens. Mike Andrade July 5th, 2007, 11:58 PM Beautiful images. Amazing how much detail the XL-H1 pulled at that distance. Bill Hamell July 6th, 2007, 12:01 AM Chris, Thank you for the research good info. How did you attach the teleconverter to the front of the 20x? Bill Chris Hurd July 6th, 2007, 12:12 AM It's a bayonet mount.
