Can the Sony HVR-DR60 be used with camcorders not manufactured by Sony, specifically the JVC HD110 and the Canon XH-A1?

Bumping this thread up as I would like to know the answer as well. I intend to use it with the Canon XL-H1 (if the unit works well with it).

Anyone?

Cheers

How are you getting the files from the HVR-DR60 into FCP? With the Sony plug-in? Can you give some steps?

Plug it in and set it to "Synchro". You'll have to run tape at the same time for it to stop/start correctly with the camera. It might take a few seconds for it to start so be sure to turn on the buffer record.

You can also run it without tape in the camera but you'll have to press record on the DR60 and stop it from the DR60.

How about the JVC? Can the DR60 read ProHD 24 p files?

I sincerely doubt it, Brian.

Most of these things are designed with specific codec(s) in mind.
Sony's website lists the HVR-DR60 as a HDV Hard Disk Recorder.

Sony Product Detail Page - HVRDR60 (http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-videorecorders/cat-rechdv/product-HVRDR60/)

I think that safely rules out anything other than DV, DVCAM, and HDV.
