I have a brevis35, and was wondering where people here have gotten their magnets to flip the image in their cam's lcd. None of magnets that are readily available to me seem to be strong enough (or perhaps properly shapped to fit close enough) to flip my cam (canon gl-1), which I'm assuming uses a magnet type apparatus to flip the image when the lcd itself is flipped around.

BE AWARE, who ever is reading this, that though I'm looking for magnets I am unaware as to whether doing this can DAMAGE YOUR CAMERA. I will be researching this next.

Thank You.

Only certain cameras have a magnet activated flip switch. Essentially there is a sensor that activates a switch when a magnet is in proximitiy. Other cameras, like the HV20 have mechanical switches. You have to physically open up the camera to get at those. Not a great idea....

Name the brand you have, and someone should be able to tell you if it works on that camera.

Thanks for the reply Chris.

I have a Canon GL-1. Actually, I just went to the hardware store and tried a couple of different size and strength magnets and came to the virtually certain conclusion that the GL-1 CANNOT POSSIBILY have its lcd flip work through a magnetic type switch. I say this because the magnets I used were, firstly, very small so I was able to position them on various locations near the lcd and, secondly, I used magnets of varying strengths (there was one magnet that was a little smaller than a quarter but was very very strong - whether or not my fear was justified, I was actually hesitant about trying it on my camera for fear of doing some kind of internal damage to it).

Anyhow, given my experience I highly doubt that the magnet flip hack works with the GL-1.
