I just got my HD20 and tried to put a couple of my Sony shot HDV footage tapes into the cam and keep getting "Incorrect Tape Specification Playback is restricted". Will Canon not play non-Canon shot HDV tapes?

Edit: just saw that my ntsc footage played fine but my pal 1080 50i footage isn't supported. I don't suppose there's a workaround is there?
