Recently got a couple DVX100's and am very happy with them.

Is it a good idea to remove the pulldown after shooting in 24p mode (after effects 5.5 does it very very easily) and convert it to 23.976fps and then edit in 23.976fps?

Or is it better to edit in the original captured 29.97fps footage. The quality is much better (no interlacing artifacts) when I remove the pulldown. My main concern is audio sync (will this affect it??)...and is there any other reason not to edit in 24fps?

Another thing I noticed is that in after effects, I can remove the pulldown, making the file 23.976fps and render the comp in 29.97fps or I can render the comp in 23.976fps and I get the exact same results. I am a little confused by that. Is it best to render it in 29.97fps with the pulldown removed or render it in the 23.976fps?

I'm probably going to be editing in Avid Xpress DV 3.5 and this is for a film that will probably just be transferred to DVD, but I need to get some kind of standard set before I start archiving all the footage as we shoot it (3 month shoot).

The best route is to use a editing system that supports DVX100 capture and editing:

(1) Vegas Video 4.0b
(2) Blade 2.0

These are out right now.

Final Cut Pro 4 and Xpress Pro are due any day.

If you cannot use any of those, you might consider DVFilmaker which as long as you shoot 24P Advanced (not standard) will remove pulldown and handle audio and keep quality exactly the same. AE does require a render and is slower and lower quality unless you render uncompressed.
