I've been going through a whole bunch of older threads on Slow Motion with H1...
and I was wondering if the slow-mo process has been simplified with the new Final Cut Pro 2?

I have a music video project coming up and the whole thing will be in slow-mo (half speed) in PAL.
The band will be lip-syncing their song at double speed and I’m planning on shooting in 50i and editing the whole thing in 25f in Final Cut

Has anyone done this and would this be the right approach without running into major issues?
Have done this a lot with 35mm film and this will be my first time doing SlowMo in HD format.
Suggestions and comments are welcome.

Hi Alex,

Nattress Big Box of Tricks has a very simple 50% speed filter which makes it extremely easy to achieve what you describe. Simply record 50i (at shutter speed of 100), capture the footage, and pop the filter on it in the timeline. All done. The only thing is you have to make each clip twice as long as you need it to be before applying the filter - only the first half will show once the filter has been applied (ie: if you want to slow down six seconds of footage, capture that plus an extra six seconds of chaff which will be discarded).

The Nattress filter does work really well. However, FCS2, or at least the motion part, has borrowed the slow mo features of shake... which are excellent. Will take a lot of rendering time, but if you go this route, you can shoot 25f, and slow it down as much as you like, motion will generate the additional frames with very little resolution loss.
