Forgive me, as I'm still new to the wonderful world of HDV camcorders, so the answer may either be blatantly obvious or Im just making a dumb mistake.

I've been trying to input video from my new TV into my HV20 - I follow all the steps in the manual (page 71 English version), but no dice. The TV is HD, and I know you cant input HD footage through the analog cable, so many Im screwing something up. I then found the next section - "digital video dubbing" - and got even more confused.

Any help at all is appriciated - and my apologies if this has been asked and covered before.

A/V input on this camcorder is standard definition only. It won't accept an incoming HD signal (it will through FireWire, but not through the analog A/V input jack). Sounds like you knew that though.

Which analog cable? Composite? Component?

Trying to record HD TV content to your HV20? Wonder if that'd work...

As a lark, I tried recording/viewing HD over firewire to my HV10 , output from my Motorola 6412 HD-DVR, but it didn't work. Not sure if it wasn't HDV-compatible or what. I didn't try very hard though.

re (analog SD composite) recording via AV-in jack, I think you have to set something in the menus to allow AV-in recording? can't recall, but check the manual etc..
