I just received a replacement HV20. The problem is that this new replacement also sounds like something is loose in the camerabody housing.

I am not talking about a loose screw or item in the camera housing or cassette mechanism. It is not the rattling sound of item falling around.

If I tilt the camera at a moderate speed up and/or down, then one hears something slide and "clink".

What could this be?

Checked the following:
- not the battery (which is just a little loose, that way on both models)
- not the plastic covers for any of the ports.
- not the metal rings on the hand strap.
- not the image stabilizer (loose sound with it on and off)

Do anyone elses HV20 have this issue?

This is the optical image stabilizer, EVERY HV20 makes this noise. It's been discussed here in multiple threads. The sounds coming from your HV20 are normal.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did search the forum for information, but didn't find any.

I will work around the noise from the image stabilizer then.

Does the OIS on the Canon XH-A1 also have this noise issue?

It's the OIS - noisy darn thing... totally normal, but yes it does freak one out.

FWIW, I put velcro dots on my batteries to stop them clunking around... big improvement...

AND to lessen body noise, I mount this cam on trpod or brackets...
