I have a HV20 camera (High Def), when I capture the video with Vegas 7e I get a m2t file (MPEG2 with Transport audio?). What I would like to do is take the captured m2t files, edit out parts of it in Vegas and then render a new m2t file which, in theory, should be smaller than the original since I have take out video. My question is what format/template should I pick in Vegas to achieve this? I do not want to loose any quality in this process from the original m2t to the 'smaller' one as I will then delete the original m2t and keep the 'new' one around for viewing on Plasma via HTPC or in a future VEGAS project.
When I try using the Format/Template, 'MainConcepts MPEG2 Blu-Print 1080-24p', and add in audio and uncheck elementary streams (this should combine audio+video in the same file, right?) Vegas gives me an unknown error after a few seconds of rendering. As long as I keep the elementary streams check box checked it will render beautiful video but the audio is in a separate file. I'd like to keep them in the same file (a new m2t), is this possible? What mistake am I making in the process?
Thanks,
Chad
