View Full Version : Able to capture 12-bit but not 16-bit audio

I have connected a BetaSP deck through a Datavideo DAC-10 converter and a Datavideo balanced to unbalanced audio converter. When I capture video/audio with 12-bit audio into my PC, it does fine. But, after I select 16-bit audio, no audio can be captured. I have also tried dubbing with 16-bit to tapes using a miniDV deck and when I later playback those tapes the 16-bit audio is present (I can hear both 12-bit & 16-bit recorded audio through the monitor).

But I can't capture a/v from these dubbed tapes either. Video is fine, but there is still no audio being captured...

How can I hear the 16-bit audio when playing dubbed tapes --- but Premiere Pro nor Windows Movie Maker captures the audio when it's dubbed with audio set at 16-bit?

My Sony editing monitor correctly displays that the audio being input into it via the Panasonic DV tape deck's on-screen display as either 32K or 48K.

Same deal when I put these dubbed tapes into my camcorder. I can hear either the 12 or 16-bit audio through the headphones, but can only capture it when the audio is 32K, not 48K.

So, ideas? Suggestions?

What the heck am I doing wrong? This seems perfectly straightforward to me, but I'm baffled.

Thanks!
