You mount the receiver on to the top of the camera where you would attach a light, your receiver should have a little mounting wired sleeve that it sits in - this is what holds it onto the camera

then there should be a little chord that comes with the receiver that goes from the output on the receiver and into one of the XLR inputs on the side of the camera

The transmitter goes on the audio source, normally the person or one of the people you are filming.

The receiver goes on the camera.

Some wireless mic receivers offer a belt clip, and that may be of value if you want to mount a light on the camcorder.

Though I hate this solution, if the reciever is not too heavy you can velcro it to the rear battery door. Because Canon designed a camera without any unobstructed flat surfaces on it, its hard to mount a wireless

(Why ?? would they put that BNC HUMP where they did, wrecking the body's only available flat surface ??)

I bought a wireless system from Sennheiser recently.
You can attach the receiver directly to the camera.

I use the Sony UWP-C1 wireless mic system.

The receiver fits neatly onto the hot shoe mount but if you want to mount a light there it will strap onto the external mic holder when it's folded out.

By the way, I was going to attach a couple of pix of the mic setup but I don't have permission to post attachments. Any idea how this can be changed?
