I have a canon xh a1, when recording with lav senn G2 (xlr) should I plug into line or mic, and please , expalin why, i really don't get it. Thanks.

Generally "mic".

simple. line level outputs should feed line level inputs. mic level outputs should feed mic level inputs.

line level is typically about 50db louder than mic level. if you put that loud of a signal into a mic input you will get distortion. if you put the quieter mic signal into a line input, you may hear nothing at all, or have to gain up so much you get a lot of hiss along with the mic.

the g2 can get close to both levels. if you go into the menu of the receiver and select the "AF OUT" item, this adjusts the output level. there are different models with different settings, but choosing -30 or so gives something close to a mic level. choosing +10 or so is closer to a line level. set your receiver and then choose the appropriate input setting on your camera. don't forget to monitor with headphones, if it sounds good go with it...
