Hey all!

We just purchased a JVC SR-MV55U/SR-MV45U SVHS/DVD recorder. Recording FROM the Mac using FCP is not a problem. But trying to capture from the deck will not work. When I use the firewire cable to capture DVDs, I can control the deck but I do not see video or get audio. Weird.

Maybe there is some form of protection where I cannot capture from this DVD or SVHS player? Have you guys ever experienced these problems with this deck or similar?

Macrovision is a copy protection scheme to prevent people from copying DVDs. It is probably on all major motion picture DVDs.
