OK, got the mic and it's too thin so options are:
- Wind some gaffer tape around it to thicken the mounting point and it should absorb some handling noise.
- Use special foam/rubber.
What do the users here go with?
:)
Thanks!

gaffer tap, a couple wraps and you are good to go. I never pick up any handling sound. I do pick up the zoom drive when in near silent conditions but that is due to a very good mic. fortunatly i am never shooting in silent conditions.

For my NTG-2, believe it or not, I use Velcro. I bought a cheap strip of velcro at the local supermarket and I used the soft fuzzy velcro and wrapped it around the mic once and it makes a great, snug fit.

Get the sillicon bands for the SM3, just take one twist it to make a 8 then insert the mic in the 2 loops. Voilą, it will fit perfectly and even provide a little suspension to better isolate the mic.
