I Just wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My name is John Garcia, and I am pretty much a beginner to this whole "DV" scene.

I’m probably going to have tons of questions, and I’m looking forward to interacting with the rest of the DV Community to get the answers and learn.

First off...I will probably be getting my first DV cam next month or so. My friend is going to sell his PD-150 to me for about 2 grand. The camera hasn’t been used for more than 2 hours of footage, and is still in awesome condition. Is this a good deal?

What does everyone else think about the PD-150? Should I keep it, and utilize the few extra features, or should I sell it, make some money and pick up a VX2000?

2 grand for a 150 is a great price IF the camera is as good and little used as you say. for that kind of money you might as well keep the 150 instead of trying to sell it, make some cash and buy a 2000 because by the time you buy a few things you might need for the 2000 and not the 150 IE audio gear, you'll be ahead of the game with the 150.
Of course, that's only my opinion, I own 2 150's and a vx1000, and not a VX2000 so maybe someone who owns a 2000 will chime in and give you reasons to get that instead.

Welcome to DV Info. This is one of the best online communities available. I'm quite sure you' find the association rewarding, I know i do.

Hang onto the PD150. You sell and you're getting rid of a camera with a known past. You'd never replace it witha used VX2K and really have piece of mind (at least i wouldn't)

Definitely. I have a VX2000, and I love it, but would take the offer if available.
