View Full Version : OWC offers interesting Apple memory choices Heath McKnight June 1st, 2007, 09:34 AM http://macminute.com/2007/05/31/owc-mac-pro-memory/ Wow, 32 gb vs. 16 with their technology?! heath Zack Birlew June 1st, 2007, 11:08 AM I just paid OWC $2,000 for 16gb of RAM which just happened to arrive yesterday, now I read this. Doh! >.< Oh well, $6,500 would have been a lot more than what I would have wanted to pay anyway. Fortunately RAM prices drop fast so maybe by late next year I'll upgrade. Heath McKnight June 1st, 2007, 11:11 AM I remember when RAM went up in 1999/2000. It was horrible how high it rose in price. Rumors included a ship that sank with shipments onboard (that actually happened to an early shipment of Todd McFarlane toys in 1994/5), or something. Sorry to go ot, but I just thought of that when I realized the price! That's the cost of, I don't know, a V1u and an M15 deck! And maybe throw in a nice DSLR, too. heath Kyle Prohaska June 1st, 2007, 11:44 AM I think RAM is actually pretty cheap nowadays. Only 2 years ago when I went to buy 2GB of RAM (thats DDR ram mind you, 184pin). It was about 200 bucks for some top quality OCZ 2GB Dual Channel. Just yesterday we ordered 2GB of 240pin DDR2 for my computer at work, and another 2GB 184pin for the older computer and it was only 200 bucks. You cant beat that price...even storage is beginning to become almost rediculously cheap...250GB for 68 bucks?!! It boggles the mind haha. - Kyle Wayne Morellini June 2nd, 2007, 01:49 AM I read recently they are selling RAM below cost. This is not too uncommon as the industry goes through supply demand cycles. In future we can hope that it's price continues to go down from increasing technology. |
