Mark Shubin's current article in Videography on the history present and future of broadcasting the Met is really fascinating, and I'm not even an opera fan :). Not only was I impressed that he could stay on point for one whole column for a change, but it did an excellent job of illustrating how new technology, especially HD cameras coupled with digital projection in theaters (and outdoors) is opening up all sorts of possiblities for niche content with a devoted following. This is a far more compelling depiction of new media possibilities than all those video-on-cell-phone articles mags keep running. I also want to make sure Boyd Ostroff knew about it.
