I need to know the serial number for my A1. I was told by Canon that it should be in the battery compartment. It is'nt. Is it the number which has the bar code on it. Thats the only number I can find.

If Canon told you that, they're mistaken.

Yes, it's on the underside, under the barcode.

They probably misunderstood the camera model. It is in the battery space on the XL and GL.
