Hi All, I currently have a Canon GL2 and am wondering if it'd be worth it too upgrade to the A1? I really want to be shooting in native 16:9 for my istudents films but want to know if the upgrade is truely worth it in all aspects..

Thanks ahead for any input :)

Well for the best bang for your buck yep. The manual control is far greater and I wouldn't think you would be disappointed. The 16:9 SD video is said to look incredible so not only to you get bigger CCDs that are native 16:9 with more manual control but you get the option to shoot HD when its right for you.

On the other hand, the GL2 is (probably) paid for, and it's a student film. Is spending $3500 going to make a better student film?

I've had the GL2 for almost 2 years now, and am looking to have a new camera, the A1, for college and thereafter..

The A1 is amazingly versatile, much more so than the GL2. Plus it's never too soon as a student, to learn how to shoot good, clean HD. so yeah, if you have the budget, do it.
