I got recently a Glidecam 4000 PRO. I am just wondering if any of you is able to balance this steadicam. I read the manuals and saw the DVD that comes with it. It looks so easy but I cannot seem to be able to balance the Glidecam 4000 PRO when I put my camera on it the whole thing tips over. Also I got a jacket with it but when I try it also with the jacket it tips over too. Is there a trick, tip, or something?

Gilbert.
It's tricky the H1 is at the top weight of the 4000. Balance just takes time but I don't ever get it 100%
I have the vest with it too and it still is manageable only for shorter runs ...but that's just my limited experience.

Sounds like you are top-heavy. Extend the center post and test your drop time until you have the desired time.

If by "jacket" you mean the Smooth Shooter, that won't help with this issue--the rig needs to be balanced the same for either handheld or body mounted use.

I second Charles but you may also need more weights on the bottom plate. It all depends on the weight of your camera as being used and if it stays on top.

Check out "drop time" using the search function of this forum.

Let us know if this makes sense. We cover this in our training video.
