After a lot of misgivings it seems that these 2 formats are about to make a big splash in UK broadcasting. Sky News (a major international news broadcaster and part of the same group as Fox news) has announced its migration to P2 HD for all future acquistion and transmission). In the next few months all its foreign bureau will be equipped with the HPX 2100 and HVX 200 cameras, with the whole organisation switching to it next year.

The BBC announced a few years ago that it intended to be an entirely tapeless HD enviromment, for acqusition and transmission by 2010. A big step towards this was taken recently when the Factual and Learning dept. (one of the biggest original programming/production depts in the BBC) announced that in future all commissions were to be shot and delivered on DVCPRO HD, the preferred cameras being the HDX 900 and Varicam. This is also to lay the ground work for a seamless move to P2 HD by 2010. I t would now seem very likely that the rest of the organisation will follow suit.
