Just got the Panasonic 24p Cam and it is not being recognized by Win XP when plugged into my Matrox RT2500 1394 . err mess: cannot find software for AV/C subunit...It doesn't work with an Adaptec FireConnect Card either. Anyone having this problem, if so any suggestions?
Cannot believe the response I got from Panasonic tech support.
This is it in it's entirety: "Try the Microsoft 1394 drivers"
?? I was all over Microsoft's site for a week, there are no 1394 driver downloads! Anyway I installed SP 1 for XP a while ago...I'm stimied...

The problem is probably with the Matrox card. When you installed
that with all the drivers all the Microsoft stuff went out the window
(no pun). Matrox is probably not liking your camera very much.
The best way to test this is to try your camera on another XP
machine that has a plain OHCI compliant firewire card (or on the
mainboard) and nothing special installed. If that works then it
then my guess would be the Matrox software is breaking things..

I have it working fine on windows XP with both an OHCI card and on a Canopus DV storm. Might be your Matrox card....
