If you use a certain brand of tape in your camera, then give that tape to someone for them to capture, and they have a different camera and use different tape stock, could that aversely effect your tape, or camera, if when it was returned you attempted to use it?

Good question.
I've always been a fan of
a) capturing off the same camera you shot on, or
b) capturing off a regular deck
before
c) using another shooting camera to play back the stuff you shot on
Mostly I've used a) and sometimes b) above. c), I think, is asking for trouble a bit, especially in long-GOP land.
If your ingesting person is a friend, you might suggest using a head cleaner before he loads your stuff, and then afterwards, before he loads his own brand again. And probably the same for your camera too.
I don't know whether that would help any, lacking direct experience of this.
Since reading about the dry lube stuff on these pages, I've stuck to one brand of tape since I bought my cameras, with no problems so far.
However, no problems also means no experience, so I'd be interested to hear from people who have had some real experience on this matter too.
