I've been impressed with the dynamic range of the HV-20. Here is a quick clip showing how the camera can grab nice detail in very dark areas and still not blow out the highs. No filters, shot interlaced, with most likely the CineMode preset, though I don't know for sure. I had been playing between Tv, Av, and Cine. I most likely locked the exposure as well, though I can't confirm that either. Yeah, I pretty much just went out and found a very contrasted shot.

*about a 13 meg clip (H.264). Up till I run out of bandwidth.

Nice image and really nice smooth pan.

What sort of TriPod did you use? I want smooth pans like that!!!

The aspect ratio seemed a bit messed up.

The tripod was one of the cheap Bogen's we use for the old VHS camcorders at the college. Something like 3011 sticks and the 3063 head. Not something I would recommend, but I just grabbed what was at the door during a break.

Shutter speed was most likely 1/60.

The aspect ratio does look odd on the dowload, but is fine on the file I have on the computer. Not sure what the deal is there. Captured as 1080i HDV on iMovie and exported using the stanard quicktime settings.
