I am wondering if there is a setting that I am missing. When I preview my footage on the camera, or a TV monitor, the image quality is nice and bright and the colours niceley saturated. But when I view it on my computer screen, it is less bright and less saturated. The footage is going to be diffused online (so computer minitor).

Video monitors are setup differently from typical computer monitors. Unless you go with calibrated computer workstation monitors designed for use in video editing or serious graphics editing (and calibrate them accordingly) what you have will be a bit of a crapshoot, and further subject to what ever setup changes the end user has done to their monitor and graphcs adapter.

Further many TV sets include some automatic image adjustment capabilites that key on the input video signal parameters and may act to enhance the image contrast, brightness and color saturation.

Bottom line is when you distribute media to the public, as on the web, tape, or DVD, you loose control over the display conditons. Your best defense is to have your gear well calibrated to produce industry standard output.

As nesessary, if you have a specific user community in mind, you can edit your material to work well with what you expect your typical customer will use for viewing.
