View Full Version : HV20: Two New scenes with Letus Adapter
Chris Barcellos April 30th, 2007, 01:38 AM Shot these two scenes this weekend trying to push HV20 a bit more on the Letus35a adapter. Only place I can post this is at megaupload at this point, sorry 'bout that, but I wanted to post in highest def possible so you can see what the HV2o with the Letus can do. I'm shooting the prime lens Nikon 50mm around F 2.8 to F4 on both these scenes, I think... Here is the link:

Chris Barcellos April 30th, 2007, 10:14 AM I checked megauploads and there was indication of 41 downloads, I'm just wondering whether megauploads is getting files to people, or if the hassle is just too much.
Meanwhile, on issue I have with Letus/HV20 combo is whether to use OIS. The shots here at OIS on, and because I'm thinking it works better with the slight vibration from the Letus. Comments anyone ?
Mark Ross April 30th, 2007, 11:01 AM Chris, I canceled my d/l because it was just too slow. And it was slightly difficult figuring out how to get to the file. :)
Casey Schulte April 30th, 2007, 11:06 AM You might try sendspace.com - it also handles files up to 300mb and, in my limited experience, is a bit quicker. Plus, you don't have the annoying 45 second wait thing. Just a thought.
Chris Barcellos April 30th, 2007, 11:28 AM Mark, Casey:
Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if it was getting to those who might be interested. I will search for a better mode. These are large files, by nature.... The compressed .wmv or .mov just don't give the whole picture when you are trying to demonstrate this camera's capabilities.
Jason Brown April 30th, 2007, 02:32 PM is very little infocus in the second scene due to the low DOF (F2.8-F4)? does it get too dark when trying to increase it. It has a great feel to tho.

I was trying to focus on the far side of the pool in that scene, to see how sharp we could get distant objects. I was curious because Steven Dempsey was doing similar work with the A1/Letus combo. The two I did here were attempting to demonstrate that. In that sense, may have been better to open lens up more to put foreground more out of focus.
This was evening in a heaviliy treed park, with sun highlighing only a few spots, but if I recall right, I could have adjusted the exposure level up more, and dialed the lens closed more. This particular lens does real well at not having a lot of vignetting even at higher F Stops.
Chris Barcellos April 30th, 2007, 06:29 PM My new found friend Jason from my hometown here, mirrored this file. If you aren't happy with megauploads, try it.

Joe Busch April 30th, 2007, 07:51 PM Eh my gripe was it was a 200meg file for about a minute of footage... even if it was uncompressed or close to it... you can put a bit of compression on it ;) I get decent video 4-5 minutes for 100-150 megs
Looked good, but I wasn't exactly sure what you were trying to do...
Quinn OConnell April 30th, 2007, 08:42 PM Hi there, considering the HV20 once i sell my XM2/GL2, i also have the Letus 35, can you please post some pics of your HV20/L35 set up. Do you use a 37-58 Step up ring to hold the letus? How do you find the support of the weight.?
Thanks
Quinn
Chris Barcellos April 30th, 2007, 09:11 PM Quinn:
Made my own support set up pretty cheaply.... Take it for what it is worth, but it works pretty good. See the photo here:
