A 1920x1080 AVCHD cam would be nice, but it's still coming soon.

The Panasonic SD3 and DX3 records to 1920X1080 although it's only out in Japan.

Very intersting indeed. i noticed tey are CMOS. hehe. Canon must have got them scared. :) I wonder should i hold off to see how they go, or just grab a HV20. Hmmm

The Sony's have been CMOS for over a year!!! HC1, HC3, UX1, SR1, DVD505 just to name a few. This last year HC5, HC7, V1, FX7, UX5, UX7, DVD508. Just announced SR5, SR7, SR8, CX7.

Depending on the manual features, I wonder how they compare to the Canon's AH-1 HD cam.

I like the idea of a hard disk, but eventually in years, maybe it would crash and need replacing, but actually, it's probably easier to replace a little HD than an entire tape transport, which break much more easily.

The only drawback to HD storage, is that you won't have hard backups unless you put everything on a DVD when you are done recording.

Plus...how much does a 60 gig hold of SP mode?

The price is right though, I will say that. $1400 for 1080i sounds awesome.

The thing about the GL2 I liked the most though, was the 20x zoom, and the manual controls for F-Stop,lighting, shutter speed and such.

I am assuming these do not have 24 or 25p, correct?

I looked at the specs for the HDR-SR5 and they say anywhere from five to 15 hours, depending on recording mode.

Personally, that is what I like about Hard Drive based recording. The time limits are so much more expansive that it just stops being a problem.

It used to be an HD/HDV camera a year or every 6-8 months. now I can't keep up!
