Ambient is almost finished with a Timecode over LanC Logger device. It is able to read TC from a LanC connector.

However, Hvx200 only output "remote control" functions over LanC and everything time code is output via the FireWire connection. Right now, the device works great with Sony and Canon cams.

They (Ambient) is trying to talk to Panasonic to enable TC out via LanC. If this happens, THe HVX200 is complete and you should be able to do a double system without a hitch !!

Jason,

LANC controllers are specific to Sony and Canon cameras and are both electrically and electronically different than the control setups used by Panasonic. In order for Panny cameras to use LANC-style controllers they would literally have to redesign the entire control interface, control boards and camera software, which isn't going to happen.

One of the major differences between contoller setups is that DV-LANC controllers only give you start/stop, zoom and focus - and data. Panny controllers don't have the data option but instead have iris (aperture) control.

So for Panny cams timecode comes out FW only; if you want a LANC-type device you have to use either Sony or Canon.
