I'm doing an animation with flying text over it.
The text was created in Photoshop and was rasterized.

I want to stream a ray of light across the string of text. How can I do that with standard effects? I also have Shine.

if u'm reading you right, if you have FCP5.1 you can do this with Effects > Video Filters > Glow > Light Rays
