I saw scary movie 4 a while back and i didn't like it that much, but i couldnt help but notice that the first half of the movie looked like it was shot on film and then the last on dv... Does anyone know for sure? Also, is it the amount of frames per second that gives film that feel to it?

No. Good cinematography is what makes movies look good. Film is a part of that equation, but HD is also doing a good job all the way up to big-budget pictures.

IMDB lists the camera used as the Panavision Genesis HD. In this case, film is not even part of the "filmlook".

out of morbid curiousity, what does that camera run for?

Panavision gear cannot be bought, only rented. It's valued at over $250K in any event.

The opening scene (with Dr. Phil etc.) from "Scary Movie" was shot on 35mm, the rest on the Genesis.
