You'll be hard-pressed to find similar quality adapters with equatable price tags. Beachtek's popular for a reason.

No, just looking for cheaper solutions.

Sorry, can't see what's the relation with Beachtek boxes. They are passive or active mic adapters, not headphone amps.

I think they used to have a LED VU meter that could be used as headphone amp, but I don't know if it's still made.

I have a signvideo box for a GL1 and we also have a couple of Beachteks. The Beachtek has the controls at the rear (at least on that model) and they are less likely to get moved by accident--the Sign has them on the right side under the side grip. Also the input knobs on the Sign rotate smooth and I had to put rubber washers in between the knob and body to keep them from changing accidentally. The Beachtek has indexed knobs that "click" into position. It's the little things that make it better....but the audio quality seems similar.

Is there any sub $250 boxes that provide phantom power?

Most of the conversion boxes have models that allow/support phantom power from the box, yes. Beachtek has several, as do the Studio 1 boxes.

I use a Jucedlink CX231, It's the version with 2ch and phantom power.

It has preamps so the result is better than a passive beachtek.

I really like this solution, just google Juicedlink if you wanna know more.
