The Instant autofocus on my A1 takes a while - sometimes two seconds in low light. Is this normal? I've been dealing with it but I wonder.

John J. Watkins April 22nd, 2007, 08:56 AM I have noticed this at times myself but I don't have an answer. The AF system on the XH A1 is different from Canon still cameras because of the way a video camera operates as opposed to a still camera. John Mike Teutsch April 22nd, 2007, 09:05 AM Low light and lack of contrast will definitely slow down the focus. It needs light and some sort of contrasting lines. Mike Mike Gorski April 22nd, 2007, 10:09 AM Although I don't have the A1, my previous AG-DVC30 had a hard time focusing during low light as it tends to "hunt" for the object. I think this is a common problem on many types of camcorders with low light. George Szondy April 23rd, 2007, 12:25 AM Especially when I zoom in. |
