hey, this might be a stupid question because i havnt actually read the manual yet..

i just picked up my A1 yesterday, and today we were shooting some test footage and we couldnt get the MF to focus any closer than 1Metre away.. is this normal? seems pretty crazy if thats the closest you can be..

thanks

Try with wide angle. With tele, its 1 m.

You don't need the wide angle lens, just zoom the built in lens to wide and you can focus almost to the front of the lens.

so use the 'magnify' button?

Play with the manual focus at different focal lengths. When you zoom in all the way (either with the zoom ring on the lens or the rocker on your right hand) the closest you can focus is 1 meter. As you zoom out (get wider) you can focus closer until you get to your widest where you can focus on an object that is only 0.1 meter from the front of the lens.

ah, yes i see. thanks for your patient replies ;)
its just that i always learned that when focusing to zoom in all the way first to check the focus. i guess it just works different on this camera a bit.

Magnify button is for EVF only; doesn't record to tape.
