Thanks Barlow! Hello Marlon, As I have told you before, you do great work. Just a comment, and I know that 90% of the readers are going to think I am crazy. The A1 is super sharp and that is probably the best thing going for the camera. With that said I watched your H264 clip video full screen on a Sony 1080i CRT 32" and when the main actor comes into focus (04 sec.) you can see facial detail that takes away from the mood of the scene. IMHO a soft halo like filter will ad to the mood of this dream like scene. ( A regular soft diffuses the whole scene. A soft halo diffuses the highlights into the dark areas softening only the highs like in the out of focus background but not softening detail on the darker areas like the hair and eyes) My comments apply if you would be presenting this movie out of a CRT, plasma or LCD. If you are projecting on a large screen, then no-one will notice. What kind of monitor are you using to edit? I wouldn't bother you with small details if I wasn't sure that I'll be seeing your movies on the big screen in the near future. Marlon Torres April 11th, 2007, 09:23 AM Thanks for the feedback Douglas. I actually will be adding a soft diffusion in the final render, I'm currently holding back on it because the render time will be in the hours. I am editing on a 23" apple cinema display. Again, this is just a student film but thank you for the faith you have in me! I appreciate it! Douglas Villalba April 11th, 2007, 09:31 AM Thanks for the feedback Douglas. Again, this is just a student film but thank you for the faith you have in me! I appreciate it! I know what you are saying. HDV is not a good format to edit. I own the Sony FX1 and the Panasonic HVX200. I may be getting an A1 unless I see something better at NAB next week. As far as editing my HDV stuff I capture through component to DVCPROHD, it is a lot easier to edit with my old G5 Quad and 4.5 GBs (a few months old and already an antique) Jerrod Cordell April 11th, 2007, 11:44 AM I have to say, I really don't like watching your clips sometimes, because I know when I get my XH-A1, it's gonna be really hard for them to match how good yours looks. Great job man. What's your movie about anyway? |
