Again, ignore the color because it's off. I used the VIVIDRGB setting but did not white balance. While it's not exactly edge-to-edge sharp, it's way better than I could imagine. Nikon 28mm f2.8 lens for first shot, Nikon 100mm f2.8 lens for second shot

Nice, Steven--that's actually useable as a wide, which is very signifigant as far as these adapters go. Looks like Quyen has made some nice improvements to the Letus Enhanced. Glad to see that.

very sharp indeed! albeit quite dreary, it's sharp as cheddar.

while the shots are wide and crisp, i'm not really feeling the whole "film" thing though. I would have just guessed you shot this with the cam on "green box."

anyone notice the incredible DOF the A1 simply has out of the box?

My intention was different than usual with this 35mm adapter still. Most of the time, there is difficulty in shooting the usual narrow depth of field shots while also shooting wide scenes. Generally there is very little detail in wide shots using these adapters so some filmmakers end up using the stock lens of their video cams for wide shots creating a nightmare in matching colorimetry, etc.

So the fact that this looks like something without an adapter is perfect. It means that, conceivably, an entire film could be shot with the adapter with wide and close ups.

Okay, that was a kinda long and convoluted answer but I think I made the point.

i may have to pick up the flip and check it out myself. i love shallow DOF on
close ups but only have a ton of EOS lenses ...including the 10-22 WA.

I have no idea of the conversion ratio on that lens, but I am sure it would be interesting.

anyway, with EOS i think im stuck with the Micro 35 and i hear EOS isnt the best option anway.

i don't want to deal with upside down monitors, throwing more money at nikkon too, or carting two sets of lenses everywhere.

i'm screwed, venting, and ranting.

Steven, were those in 24p or 60i. Gave my Windows media player fits, for some reason, though VLC did fine...

24p, Windows Media Player seems to balk at m2t files that are 24p...not sure why.

Steven, it looks sharp, yet somewhat low contrast, which I find more cinematic. Was it wide open? Have you put two shots side by side to compare?(stock and Letus). I have exact dilemma, of how to match them on the same shoot, H1(mini35) and A1 stock lens.

Both WMP and Quicktime can act very buggy when it comes to HD files.
I find VLC to work very well. Also, Nero Showtime plays huge 1080 mpeg, ts, and m2t files very smooth.

Was a lot of the grain in the picture the result of the adapter of the camcorders dB setting high?
