Hello, this is a great forum! I'm a 46yr old Mom of grown kids now interested in this new hobby. I started out playing on YouTube with a webcam, and now I'm currently taking classes at my local public access TV channel to be a producer.

Once I'm certified at PATV, I still won't really "know anything," but I'll be able to use the studio and occasionally check out a field camera, so that I can at least start out with better equipment.

My plans are to start crewing for other people in the Public Access channel, and eventually make my own show, documentary, or "special," but that will be awhile. In the mean time, I'll start accumulating footage, and will probably start attending some of the protests in DC just to get the footage.

Anyway, I don't know where this will go at the moment, but it's a lot of fun so far. I am a genuine newbie, so I'll apologize in advance for some of the stupid questions I might ask, but for now, and to help avoid that somewhat, I'm doing a lot of reading on this incredible forum. Glad to be here!

Hi Laurie, welcome aboard DV Info Net, good to have you with us!

If you have any questions try a search and if that doesn't answer your question
create a new thread in a forum. We have forums split out for basically all parts
of production & tools etc.

All the best,

Laurie, I am not too far from you. I am also looking to learn more and shoot a wider range of things. IF you need help or want to get together for anything let me know. Ijust wrote some about my experience also.

Hi Laurie,

I live down in Fredericksburg and work in Arlington.
Glad to have you on board. I've mostly shot narrative shorts, and they are starting to get some festival play now.

It sounds like you "the bug" and this forum is a great place to learn a ton of stuff.
