I purchased a Bogen/Manfrotto 3066 fluid head recently on eBay ... and now I need a mounting screw for the plate (to attach to an Xl-1. Does anyone have a good source for something like that? So far, everything I've tried is too bulky/long on the underside to allow the plate to slide back on to the head.

If you have found one the right size as far as thread and diameter go the clamp it into a vise and use a hack saw to correct the length.

try a decent camera store tell them you need a 1/4X20 and bring the plate with you. They either have it or can get it for you.
