Some days ago I heard that on new SONY camcorders (TRV60,75,80 with CCD of 2Mpix) smaller pixels are used (to fit them on 1/3,6 CCD)? Do you how does it affect video quality? (I've heard that it badly affects picture quality; actually, I disagree with it, but who knows...). So it would be very nice of you if you could post some info on this article. Thx!

Would the video quality be better than Panasonic MX500's (3CCD,1/6 each) or ~the same quality?

I've been using MX500 for 2 months and I'm not impressed with its video quality, especially in low-light situations.

The TRV70 and TRV80 have a 1/3.6" CCD with over 1000K video effective pixels. That should increase resolution.

With a 3 CCD cam, you take the video effective CCD pixels, times that by 3, than take some away. So, in short, you can't go by just 1 of the 3 CCDs. Color saturation is also improved with a 3 CCD cam.

I think that with both the TRV70/80 and PV-DV953 (MX500/0), the resolution is right up there. (The maximum playback resolution of miniDV, DVCPRO and DVCAM is 540 lines, PAL and NTSC.)

I think these Sony 1 chip cams are better (in way of requiring lower lux). But the difference won't be as large as many people would expect.

Hi res CCD picks-up pixel more precisely than lower res. This yields better pixel accuracy and does improves resolution slightly.

However, densely packed into such a small package decreases sensitivity, resulting in darker images.

Throw light on subject for best results :0)
