It sounds to me like at&t is engaging in a publicity/propaganda campaign. Politicians do the same when trying to promote their own agendas by minimizing or maximizing the support they supposedly have among the public. Only an unbiased poll could reveal the truth. Well of course they are! They want to sell more phones! Can't really blame them for that, can you? Heath McKnight March 28th, 2007, 05:01 PM Interesting counter-point (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/apple-should-pull-plug-iphone/story.aspx?guid=%7B3289E5E2%2DE67C%2D4395%2D8A8E%2DB94C1B480D4A%7D&siteid=yhoo&dist=yhoo). heath Bill Davis March 29th, 2007, 02:46 AM Pretty typical Dvorak. I think he's predicted the total demise/selloff/floundering of Apple for at LEAST the past decade. He's been wrong each and every time, but if he keeps it up, I suppose eventually he'll be right. Personally, I think Apple is DEAD on with the iPhone and it's not only going to sell like hotcakes, it's going to cause a HUGE wave of switching from other services to AT&T. This is because the modern cel phone is a disaster. It's almost totally evolved into a kid gadget as EVERY modern cel phone manufacturer salivates over kid revenue generators like text messaging, ringtones, miserly megapixel still cameras and anemic pesuedo web-browsing - which in the consumer cel phone realm is just another way to bait and switch more revenue out of the kiddie shoppers. I know my 14 year old, rang up $400-500 a month bills before we pulled the plug on him. So I understand why the cel phone folks kept bundling hardly working IP/Gaming/Video crap gizmos instead of making phones actually useful for adults. Now here comes Apple. They have a pretty good record of not only making things that work well, but things that are well thought out and generally easy to use. They seem to care about the people using the stuff, as much as the profits - exactly the opposite of the current cel phone manufacturers. If they can make the cel phone//internet/digital assistant experience work like they made OSX/ iPod/iTunes then I think they'll clean everyone elses clock. A phone that watches my iDisk, syncs/updates EVERYTHING from music, to contacts, to current business files AUTOMATICALLY and lets me remotely access my data without screwing around? Heaven! And I'll gladly pay the six bills for it the moment I can, knowing that that's chump change compared to the TIME it takes me to re-set my life and business every time I'm forced to dump another obsolete cel phone only to discover that none of the software, syncing stuff, or accessories even WORK any longer with the new model. Go iPhone. Please knock the cel phone industry on it's butt. Cuz it's long, long, LONG overdue. |
