Making a mpeg1 isn't the issue. Making one that will be placed on a CD-ROM and be read by any computer is the issue. Wondering why the legal industry hasn't gone to mpeg2 is another issue. I've tried MPEGStreamclip as well as MPEG2works. Both are excellent apps, but I end up with a vieo file and an audio file that are not linked.
Changing the a QT movie extension to .mpg (as one person advised) doesn't seem to work (at least it didn't on my PC)
Any opinions on an efficient workflow process? By the way, I posted this same question on the Mac editing forum and got no bites.
