View Full Version : Short film "aka Bum" with the HD100
Nima Taheri March 23rd, 2007, 03:25 PM Title: aka Bum (also known as Bum)
Director: Nima Taheri
Norway/2006
Duration: 5:08
Format: 16:9 PAL
Synopsis:
One night of a begger's life in London. In this mass-transit, mass production, binge-commercializing, bulk-shopping, fast food, over crowded, money infested society, it doesn't always take much to show empathy towards even a begger. Should we care? Who knows what person might replace that begger.

Thanks for sharing...
I'm curious- do you shoot with presests or are you the type to shoot neutral and then CC in post?
J.

Careful Nima, that's my home town you're talking about there. Enjoyed the edit, but I hope you paid the homeless person.
Liam.

I liked it alot. Did you use alot of dynamic time warp in the edit?
David Scattergood March 23rd, 2007, 06:06 PM Nima - I really enjoyed this too....not quite sure what a 'dynamic warp edit' is (although I can guess from watching the techniques) but it easily kept my attention over the 5 or so minutes.
Thanks for posting.
Nima Taheri March 24th, 2007, 04:43 AM Appreciate the comments!
Justin: I usually use presets, but do CC in addition, very rarely do I not CC even if I use presets. I used TC3 for this one.
Liam: Unfortunately I did not pay the person. I was filming this from the hotel room, and before I knew it, he was gone... at first I was just shooting for time-lapse when I saw him sitting there...
Stephen: I didn't use any dynamic warp, I thought the dynamic warp gave a more pleasant and more "glam" look. Wanted to keep this simple in the edit.
David: All I want is your attention:)
Jiri Fiala March 25th, 2007, 11:53 AM Very nice images and colours, Nima! Thanks for sharing.
Drew Curran March 26th, 2007, 09:53 AM A well put together thought provoking piece. It could be set anywhere.

Simon Duncan March 27th, 2007, 09:44 AM Do you have a link to a Higher Resolution version since it would be nice to see and appreciate?
Soroush Shahrokni March 27th, 2007, 05:47 PM Keep up the good work Nima jan, I enjoyed this one as well as the video you did with the blue screen.
Nice editing, good CC and good choice of music for this short. Keep it up dadash, hope to see more from you!!
Brian Orser March 27th, 2007, 11:42 PM Very powerful. I'm impressed by how well you used material you gathered with no prior plan and no control over the scene.
